Technical Overview
Overview & Function
The Olympic 2827E is a production-scale stackable electric kiln built around 28-inch wide sections totaling 10 cubic feet of chamber. The stackable design lets studios add or remove rings to match load sizes, while Cone 8 rating covers the full mid-range glaze palette plus lower stoneware work. It is aimed at working studios and schools firing volume rather than occasional hobby loads.
Fitment & Compatibility
This kiln fits studios with the floor space, power service, and ventilation for a 10 cu ft electric unit. Measure your install bay against the 2827E footprint plus clearances in the manual, and confirm your panel can carry the rated circuit. Stackable sections ship separately and assemble on site.
Technical Construction & Specifications
The chamber uses stacked refractory rings with element grooves, a sectional control approach per Olympic practice, and a counterweighted or hinge-assisted lid depending on configuration. Cone 8 rating defines the upper firing limit; routine Cone 5-6 firing extends element and brick life. Verify exact electrical figures on the unit dataplate.
Installation & Maintenance Guidelines
Kiln installation needs a licensed electrician, non-combustible flooring, and room ventilation per code. Assemble rings level, seat elements fully in their grooves, and run an empty break-in firing per the manual. Log every firing with cone, schedule, and load for warranty and troubleshooting.
